Last Crown Gambit combines the familiar movement rules of chess with card-driven upgrades, tag synergies, and roguelike progression. Use cards to empower your pieces with stats, abilities, and special effects.
Stack tags to unlock synergies, shape your army, and turn familiar chess pieces into specialized combat units. Each run asks you to make meaningful choices: which pieces to strengthen, which cards to add, and which strategy to build around. --- Card-driven piece upgrades Cards grant stats, abilities, and special effects to your pieces.
A pawn can become a frontline defender, a rook can turn into a powerful siege unit, and your king can become the center of your entire strategy. --- Tag-based synergies Pieces gain tags through cards and effects. When enough tags are combined, synergies activate and change how your army performs on the board.
--- Run-based strategy After each battle, choose new rewards and improve your build. The same starting setup can grow in different directions depending on the cards, pieces, and effects you choose. --- Tactical board combat Positioning, attack order, timing, and sacrifice all matter.
One move or one card can shift the outcome of an entire battle. --- This is not traditional chess. It uses chess as its foundation, then transforms it into a roguelike battlefield of cards, synergies, and tactical decisions.
