OctoScout is operated by TF Labs. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use OctoScout ("Service").
2. Information We Collect
Account information
Email address, display name, and role selection when you create an account.
OAuth data
If you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from the provider. We do not store your OAuth passwords.
Usage data
Page views, CTA clicks, votes, and other engagement events. We collect IP addresses for rate limiting and fraud prevention.
Content you create
Reviews, comments, community posts, game listings, and feedback you submit.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) and Mixpanel to understand how the Service is used. These tools may set cookies and collect anonymized usage data.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Display your content (reviews, posts, game pages) to other users
- Calculate rankings, badges, and engagement metrics
- Send developer newsletter updates (if subscribed)
- Prevent abuse, fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service
- Improve the Service based on usage patterns
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Neon (PostgreSQL) and Cloudflare (R2, Workers). We use HTTPS, session token hashing, and password hashing (PBKDF2-SHA256) to protect your data. No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Infrastructure providers (Cloudflare, Neon) for hosting
- Analytics providers (Google Analytics, Mixpanel) for usage insights
- Law enforcement when required by law
6. Your Rights
You may:
- Access your account data through the dashboard
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out of newsletter communications
- Request a copy of your personal data

7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.
8. Children's Privacy
OctoScout is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy at any time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Service or email.
